The apparatus is used to control and test the flowability of solids in powder or granule form (e.g. plastic granules). The material is passed through a standardized funnel, and the discharge time is measured with a stopwatch. This provides important information about processability and process control. Good flowability is essential for trouble-free, automatic processing. It is influenced by the surface properties, particle size, particle size distribution and moisture. The apparatus is made entirely of stainless steel and has a stable, non-slip stand. The fill height is variable, and the funnel has a sliding opening.
