DURAN® vacuum exsiccator, NOVUS type (NS 24/29), without porcelain plate, DN 200 The DURAN® exsiccator is a laboratory vessel suitable for vacuum, with a ground-glass lid, which is used for storing moisture-sensitive substances and for drying moist products. Separated by a perforated plate (made of metal or porcelain), a drying agent is placed in the lower part of the exsiccator base; it binds the moisture of the substance to be dried, placed on the perforated plate. To accelerate the drying process, a vacuum can optionally be connected, as the liquid evaporates faster in the exsiccator due to the lower pressure. The vacuum is applied via a stopcock connection.
