DURAN® Engler flask with NS 19/26 socket, ASTM & DIN, 125 ml. Bulbous vessels are called flasks in the laboratory and, alongside beakers, are other universally usable vessels. They are used, for example, for distillations or heating liquids. In addition to the commonly used multiple-neck flasks, Engler flasks can also be used for distillations. This design of a distillation flask has a fixed side arm attached to the flask neck. The vapour is directed through this side arm into a condenser, where it finally condenses into the distillate. Thermometers can be inserted through the flask neck. An integrated ground joint ensures a tight closure of the apparatus.
