DURAN® filter crucible, 30 ml, porosity 2. One of the most important separation methods in the laboratory is filtration, which is used to separate or purify different media. For this working method, filters are required that are selected according to the application with regard to size and porosity. Filter funnels are filters used for solid-liquid separation by means of a vacuum. Filter funnels have a fritted glass base that serves as the filter medium and does not require additional filter paper. Filter crucibles are also filter funnels. They differ only in the absence of the stem. However, this enables the funnel to be placed securely and allows further work steps, such as drying the filter residue on the filter in a vacuum desiccator.
