UTTD control IVD Solution, dispersing device for microbiological and molecular biological analysis of patient samples: The comminution and disruption of tissue, cartilage and bone samples is an essential step before the actual microbiological and molecular biological analysis of patient samples. The challenges in this preoperative step are to comminute the sample homogeneously and not contaminate the sample on its way to analysis. With the ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive P control, IKA offers a powerful universal comminution drive that is operated in combination with patented single-use vessels. The sample vessels specially developed for in-vitro diagnostics are available in single or double sterile packaging and are already filled with 5 ml of 0,90% saline solution. The sample is comminuted using 10 stainless steel balls contained in the vessel, which are set in motion with the aid of the drive and a tumbling motion of up to 3000 revolutions. The accelerated balls reliably comminute the sample or detach tissue from the bone. Any germs present pass into the liquid phase (NaCl solution). The sample material can be placed directly in the sterile sample vessel in the operating room by opening the lid. The closed vessel can be transported hermetically sealed without the risk of cross-contamination. In the microbiological laboratory, the tube is placed directly on the drive and the sample is comminuted. Samples can be removed through the pierceable membrane in the sample lid. The closable single-use sample vessels are therefore transport container, comminution vessel and storage container in one. They reduce cleaning effort and systematically prevent cross-contamination. Users benefit from reduced handling costs and a reduced number of misdiagnoses. In the control version of the ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive, process parameters such as time and speed can be stored as a program, ensuring that samples are processed consistently. Reverse rotation is available for demanding samples. Tests can be documented and started automatically via a PC and corresponding software. The single-use BMT-20-S-IVD tubes included in the package are an in-vitro diagnostic product according to Directive 98/79/EC and manufactured according to ISO 13485:2016. Approved for all EU countries. Important note: The maximum processing time of the tubes is 1 minute with an automated procedure similar to the ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive. With a longer processing time, the mechanical load may become too high and leaks may occur. The procedure must be validated by the customer. Also observe the operating instructions for the ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive Properties of the BMT-20-S-IVD single-use tubes: • Volume [mL]: 20 • Working range [mL]: 5 - 15 • Functional unit: steel balls, 5mm • Membrane lid: yes • Sterile: yes • IVD marking: yes • Packaging unit [pcs]: 50 • Applications: dry grinding, cell disruption, wet comminution • Other: incl. 5 mL NaCl solution
