DURAN® desiccator with knob lid, DN 200 The DURAN® desiccator is a vacuum-suitable laboratory vessel with ground-glass lid, used for storing moisture-sensitive substances and for drying damp products. Separated by a sieve plate (made of metal or porcelain), a drying agent is placed in the lower part of the desiccator base; it binds the moisture from the substance to be dried, placed on the sieve plate. A vacuum can be connected, if required, to accelerate the drying process, since the liquid evaporates faster at a lower pressure in the desiccator. The vacuum is applied via a stopcock connection. To make it easier to remove the lid, the flat flange of the desiccator must be well greased, since after evacuation the lid is pressed onto the base. All DURAN® desiccators are vacuum-proof, i. e. they can be used up to the technically maximum possible vacuum. Special features and advantages: Due to the substantial wall thickness and the precise workmanship of the vacuum-tight ground joints on the lid and base, storage under vacuum is possible even over a longer period By connecting a vacuum to the stopcock, the drying process can be accelerated Suitable for full vacuum (0 mbar) Spare parts such as lids, bases, stopcocks and closures are compatible and can be exchanged as required (observe DN) Application: Ideal for removing moisture from solids, storing moisture-sensitive materials over long periods, for applications requiring vacuum drying, drying materials, safe work under vacuum
