DURAN® centrifuge tube, round bottom, 6 ml, Ø 12 x 100 mm One of the most important basic process engineering methods is the separation of mixtures. This working method includes centrifugation, among other processes, which makes use of the concept of inertia. A mixture to be separated is filled into centrifuge tubes, placed in a centrifuge and set into rotation. Due to the high rotational speed, heavier particles are pushed outward more quickly and farther than lighter ones. This achieves separation of the mixture based on the mass or density of its individual components.
