UTTD basic IVD Solution, dispersing device Microbiological and molecular biological analysis of patient samples: The comminution and disintegration of tissue, cartilage and bone samples is an essential step before the actual microbiological and molecular biological analysis of patient samples. The challenges in this preoperative step consist in comminuting the sample homogeneously and preventing contamination of the sample on the way to analysis. With the ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive, IKA offers a powerful universal comminution drive operated in combination with patented single-use plastic vessels. The sample vessels specially developed for in-vitro diagnostics are available in single or double sterile packaging and are already filled with 5ml of 0,90% saline solution. The sample is comminuted by 10 stainless steel balls contained in the vessel, which are set in motion by the drive via a wobble rod at up to 3000 revolutions. The accelerated balls reliably comminute the sample or detach tissue from the bone. Any germs present pass into the liquid phase (NaCl solution). The sample material can be placed directly in the sterile sample vessel in the operating room after opening the lid. The subsequent transport to the laboratory takes place in the hermetically sealed vessel. In the microbiological laboratory, the tube is placed directly onto the drive and the sample is comminuted. This eliminates additional mechanical processing. A risk of cross-contamination can thereby be excluded. The samples can then be removed through the pierceable membrane in the sample lid. The closable single-use sample vessels are therefore transport container, comminution vessel and storage container in one. They considerably reduce cleaning effort and systematically prevent cross-contamination. Users benefit from reduced handling costs and a reduced number of misdiagnoses. The single-use tubes BMT-20-S-IVD included in the package are an in-vitro diagnostic product according to Directive 98/79/EC and manufactured according to ISO 13485:2016. Approved for all EU countries. Important note: The maximum processing time of the tubes is 1 min with an automated procedure similar to the ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive . With a longer processing time, the mechanical load may become too high and leaks may occur. The procedure must be validated by the customer.
